Most Anticipated Movies of 2015

It’s 2015 – New year and new movies! Here at G33king Out we’re huge movie junkies, so as you can imagine we have a long list of movies that we must-see this year! We decided to share some of the movies we are excited for and why. Here’s our Most Anticipated Movies of 2015 list!

Mark: Avengers: Age of Ultron, Inside Out

I won’t win any originality points for this, but my most anticipated pick is Avengers: Age of Ultron on May 1. Since Marvel’s The Avengers grossed over $1.5 billion back in 2012, I don’t think I need to explain much about why it’s so enjoyable. There’s a timeless appeal to the thrill of seeing a huge cast of superheroes take down bad guys, even if you didn’t grow up reading their respective comic books. My only concern is that – if the trailer is any indication – Age of Ultron might end up taking itself too seriously (the comedic moments in the first Avengers certainly appealed to me, after all.)

My other choice is the animated film Inside Out on June 19. After making it through the Pixar-free year of 2014, it’ll be nice to see not only a new film from the studio, but one that’s an original concept (a teenage girl is guided by the personified emotions of Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness.) It sounds like it has innovative potential, so hopefully Inside Out will meet (or even exceed) the standards of my favorite Pixar films including Wall-EUp and the Toy Story trilogy. Just five months later, another Pixar film called The Good Dinosaur is supposed to debut, but I’ll have to wait for more details to emerge.

Coda: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

Next year has films like Jurassic World, The Avengers: Age of Ultron and many more being released, but nothing can come close to touching my most anticipated movie of 2015. Star Wars Episode VII is coming out near the end of 2015 and I will be counting down the days. With J.J. Abrams in the driver’s seat I expect great things from this movie. If anybody can breathe fresh life into this series it’s him, just look what he did to Star Trek. Yes I’m sure there will be lens flares, but is that really a bad thing?

Steve: Jem and The Holograms

Possibly one of the most overlooked bits of nerd culture coming to the big screen in 2015 is Jem and the Holograms, straight out of the 80s television show. Centered around the over-the-top and occasionally absolutely insane adventures of a super cool rock band, Jem has finished production after an admirable open call to fans to help contribute talents in music, design, and even acting. If the movie manages to be anything like the series, it’s sure to be a stylish and campy flick, and at least better than one particular top-billed 80s TV show turned movie *cough* Transformers *cough*.

MattTerminator Genesis

Looking forward to the movie, with reservations.  I’m hoping they move into the past timeline as quick as possible, spending minimal time in the future.  Terminator 4 was a mess in my opinion, so I think the key to success will be minimal time spent in the “future” timeline.

Marcus: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

After the extremely disappointing prequel films and Star Wars not having quite the punch as it used to, I’m hoping J.J Abrams can do what he did for Star Trek here. For once in quite a long time, I’m excited for a new Star Wars movie.

Lacey: Jurassic World, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part II

I remember when my mom took me to the movie theater to see Jurassic Park. It gave me nightmares for 3 years. I was also weirdly terrified of kitchens with stainless steel appliances….oh wait. I can’t wait to see Jurassic World. Three words: Raptors. Chris Pratt.

I’m a huge Hunger Games fan, so I’m really excited to see the conclusion of the series. I didn’t really enjoy the Part I, so hopefully Part II will be better. May the odds be ever in our favor.
