Axiom Verge Heading Towards Xbox One and Wii U
Today in Las Vegas, Tom Happ officially announced that his critically acclaimed title, Axiom Verge, will finally release on Xbox One and Wii U. The indie retro-styled platformer initially launched on PS4 and Steam last year.
This entire game was created by a single person… Tom Happ. That includes everything from programming, design, art and more. The game received multiple outstanding reviews from over 24 publications and even went on to be awarded Indie Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2015.
“Axiom Verge is a retro-style action-platform-exploration game done in a 16-bit style and was heavily influenced by games like Metroid, Contra, Blaster Master, and other classics, but with very modern design sensibilities. It also gives you power over glitches like those found in classic games, allowing you to scramble enemies, corrupt environments, and enter hidden areas as you explore this hostile alien world and uncover your role within it.”
As of right now, there has been no talk of when Axiom Verge will launch on the two systems. The press release email only states the game is coming soon to Xbox One and Wii. We will update the story when more details release.
Writer’s Thoughts: I’ll admit that Axiom Verge fell under my radar when it first released. After hearing how many awards it won and the positive consensus surrounding the game, I might just have to get around to this title once I clear my backlog a bit.
