Cel Shaded Transformers Draws Attention

UPDATE: It would seem we don’t need wait on E3 for confirmation about Devastation. Best Buy lists the game as being developed by Platinum Games. The release date say October 6th, 2015 for PS4, PS3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. As of right now, this could be just be a place holding date and pushed back at some point.

E3 2015 is rapidly descending towards the gaming industry and with its inevitable arrival, a smorgasbord of details surrounding multiple game titles have surfaced. Sticking out like a comic sore thumb is Transformers: Devastation, brought to us by the minds inside Activision.

As of this moment, besides having these images to drool over, a possible Xbox 360 release rumor and the game fitting into the “Brawler” genre, little to nothing is known about the new Transformer title. It doesn’t surprise me that people believe this to be the mysterious Platinum Games title, which has been rumored to be announced come E3. After all, Activision and Platinum recently worked together on the console version of The Legend of Korra (see my thoughts here: http://g33kingout.com/legend-korra/).

Personally, I wouldn’t mind if Platinum was working on Devastation seeing how some of their best works lie in the “Brawler” genre. As soon as I saw the first image, my mind jumped back to Ultimate Spider-Man; another game published by Activison. Devastation looks nearly identical to Ultimate Spider-Man and it’s my hope that Devastation has the same arcade experience backing it.

Judging from the images, Devastation appears to be based off the Transformers Armada cartoon show, which aired August 2002-Decemeber 2003. I could be off but this is what the images show me, based off my knowledge of the franchise.

So, until the moment this game is truly unveiled at E3, we just have to speculate with our friends and the internet till the time arrives. Check those pretty images below!
