g33king out for: Rhode Island Comic Con 2014

This past weekend I braced the rainy, cold weather and traveled up to Rhode Island for “the biggest show in the smallest state” – Rhode Island Comic Con. It was held at the Dunkin Donuts convention center, and had everything from comic books and g33ky merch to celebrity sightings and cool attractions. Despite hearing of issues with overcrowding and thousands of fans being turned away on Saturday, I’m happy to report that Sunday I had no issue attending the show.

It’s no surprise that Rhode Island Comic Con attracted so many fans since they had a pretty awesome entertainment guest list. They had William Shatner, George Takei, Eliza Dushku, and more! They also had my personal favorites Brian O’Halloran and Scott Schiaffo from Clerks. These guys are hilarious and every show I’ve seen them at they take time to personally speak with every fan (with plenty of photobombing).

There was also plenty of vendors with different g33ky items to choose from. There were comics, movies, video games, posters, and lots of toys. I was lucky to scoop up a Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy Starlord figure for only $15! Trust me when I say, there were plenty of deals with vendors and there was no shortage of nerdy merchandise.

Another major highlight of the show was the cosplay. Fans came decked out in their favorite characters from The Walking Dead and Guardians of the Galaxy, to superheroes and stormtroopers.

Overall Rhode Island Comic Con (RICC) was a lot of fun. I enjoyed the variety of the vendors and incredible cosplay by the fans. I look forward to attending the event next year.
