My Little Rambling #72: Will My Little Pony Disappear From Netflix Streaming in February?

Since waiting around for re-runs is sooooo last century, more and more TV shows are being made available for legal streaming online. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has certainly benefited as on-demand programming, allowing everyone from the uninitiated to the pony-obsessed to stream the show as long as they have a Netflix subscription (I don’t use other on-demand services.) Unfortunately, the show’s “availability” description now provides a chilling message: “streaming until 2/2/2015.”

After Sethisto from Equestria Daily initially reported this, however, he followed up with a more comforting update from a customer service representative who said that the show’s streaming license might be renewed. I’ll never feel 100% secure about that, though, since popularity doesn’t guarantee that a show will stream forever (just look at SpongeBob SquarePants‘ disappearance.) Though I don’t have any real use for streaming since I bought MLP:FiM’s seasons on DVD through Amazon (like an old-school caveman), I sincerely hope that it won’t disappear from Netflix streaming. I think it’s much more convenient than waiting around for TV airings and dealing with commercials: I (along with many others) love the freedom of being able to enjoy an episode from start to finish whenever I’m in the mood for it.

About the Author

Mark Theroux

Mark is g33ky about a lot of things, including music (especially his hero “Weird Al” Yankovic); movies (just about anything goes in that category); TV (ranging from older Simpsons to Breaking Bad to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic); and video games (he started with Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for Sega Genesis, and his modern consoles of choice are the Nintendo 3DS and – most recently – Wii U.) Some of his other favorite things are cats, Chipotle burritos and long walks on the beach. His least favorite things include poison ivy (the plant, not the smokin’ Batman supervillain), rude people and the inevitability of making a typo or two.
